I have an inground pool with a spa. I'm hearing from my pool maintenance company that because of the cold we are experiencing in the area, that it can create leaks in your pool? Or lose water? Also there can be other problems with the equipment?

Is this correct?

I was even told about the actuator can go bad and that they cannot even get a replacement from their distributor, cause the distributor does not carry them anymore, that we would have to upgrade the chlorine pool to salt water.

Something does not sound right!

The "actuator"?? The actuator for what??? Even if some part of your filter or heating system went bad, that is no reason the you would have to convert to a saltwater pool. There is no reason that you have to.
As the others have said, get a new pool guy. The one you have is being dishonest and deserves to be called out! Shame on them!!

We have been losing water in our pool, which is normal for this time of year. We always have to add some water in the winter. But I have never heard anything about the actuator going bad. Call another pool company for a 2nd opinion.

The colder nights tend to make pool water evaporate. Very noticeable during the Winter.

LOL

Evaporation. Our outside humidity level is 18% right now. My BIL covers his pool during this type of weather.
