Our kids will be coming to visit in July and they would like to do a one night getaway while we watch our grandson. So, they want romantic, a beach, live music and alcohol. Doesn't sound like too hard of a bill to fill but thought I would ask for some suggestions. I guess anywhere from St Pete to Ft Meyers. Thanks in advance!

Fort Myers Beach is our favorite. If they want the tourist vibe, several places with live music, lots of bars & restaurants within walking distance plus you can go just walk down the beach to quieter areas. Matanzas Inn is a favorite for our family. Right in the middle of the action near Times Square, yet you can sit outside on the lawn in peace and quiet and enjoy the water view. Very relaxing. I don't know how old your kids are, but mine ages 23-35 love FMB.
I think in July they would need to go on Fri or Sat to take full advantage of more live music and stuff. On the flip side, will be a little quieter for romance. We have only been there in the middle of the summer a couple times...can't remember for sure. Maybe somebody else has more experience in July. But I think all beaches are quieter in July.

Englewood beach..and it's closer. White Elephant, Flounders, Lock & Key and the other bar across the street from Flounders (kinda biker..but good music).

St. John's Pass has many bars and good food eats and pretty upscale.

Tell your kids to go on Tripadvisor and check out the areas. They can see pictures and read in the forums what people have to say. We use Tripadvisor all the time and it really gives a good feel for the places we go. They will see something that interests them.

Not sure if any place on Boca Grande has one night stays, last time I checked I think it was a minimum of 3 days, but if so they could enjoy a quiet romantic day at the beach. Plenty of good places to eat and if they want live music, South Beach Grille, has live music outside in the afternoon but also has a live band late night 10 pm on Friday or maybe Saturday night?
