What sealer seems to hold up the best under SWF conditions? Would like to not have to redo it every year, clear would be the first choice.

I have composite decking on my dock, so no sealer necessary, however, my outdoor shower I just used a Cabot stain/sealer.

What type of wood? Pressure treated, cedar, cypress or other?

I wood recommend either Sikkens Cetol SRD or Olympic Maximum. Both are penetrating oil sealers.
Stay away from any type of urethane finishes that are 'skin' type sealers, they don't penetrate deep into the wood but form a 'skin' on the surface. Continual maintenance.

I know one professional sign maker who uses Sikkens on ALL of his exterior wood signs. A furniture maker from Georgia that I also know, uses the Olympic on his outdoor furniture.

I plan on using one or the other for some of the signs that I make. I have two pieces of cedar basking in the Florida sunshine, one with Sikkens and one with Olympic. It's been a month and both are still shedding water.

As with any finish, preparation of the surface IS key.
