Supposedly my paver order is scheduled to be delivered on Monday the 9th. That's been the biggest slowdown in this whole project, waiting on pavers. Today is day 43. Should progress at a rapid pace once the deck is laid and the bullnose is placed. But we also have pretty good rain coming next week.

I hope the rains don't slow them down! Our pool was put in during TS Debby and still took just 28 days but we weren't waiting for pavers.

Thanks to my home security system I can see that the crews are digging the footer for the pool enclosure. . . Even though I am flying at 37,000 feet.

Your pool enclosure isn't going to sit on top of the pool deck? Maybe I misunderstood but have always seen the screen enclosure secured to the pool deck and not an extra footer.

I don't know what the footer is for. I just assumed it was for the cage, since it follows the perimeter of the pool. I'll keep an eye out and maybe learn.

Is it possible that the pavers are going down on compacted earth and the footer is needed so you have something solid to bolt the cage to.

.

The pavers will be going down on compacted material and they will likely do the compacting several times. The footer the guys are building in the pics (a.k.a. stem wall) will serve as the outer perimeter to contain the pavers and bolt the cage on top of.

The pool cage is technically a structural component, and by code, it therefore needs footers, That's why if you have no cage, you'll save a ton of money since you also won't need expensive footers. You'll never even know the footers are there once complete.
