I am trying to find a small place to rent for a few months in able to find a new home to purchase.
Has anyone used this site? Do you have any suggestions? Did you have any problems with scammers?
And lastly did you purchase the insurance?
One problem I have is my closing date is still in the air and I am driving to PG/PC from Socal so the arrival date may be hard to pin down.
thanks in advance.

Clint

I've used it on many occasions and never had a problem. I always try to rent properties with previous reviews. I would say there's probably more scammers on Criagslist then on VRBO. I never purchased any insurance but it might not be a bad idea.

I used vrbo quite a few times when we would vacation here. I got semi burned once. The house was in foreclosure and a lot of things in the house didn't work. Of course the owner didn't tell me that when I booked and I didn't ask.

Used VRBO for years for winter rentals and for other rentals all over the US. Never a problem... I suggest you always have a conversation with the owner of the property, ask as many questions as you can think of. All have been very friendly and good to deal with.

I also rented a house that I found on Craigslist. Before sending any money I did a google search on the house to make sure the people I was dealing with actually owned the house. Easy to find that information. Always best to double check.

Used VRBO several times to find vacation rentals as well as when we were here looking for a place.

It's worked well for me several times also. We'll be staying in a property in Burnt Store Isles next month for a couple of weeks that we found on VRBO. We're looking forward to it. I've never found it necessary to buy the insurance.
