would like some references for a shop to design & build a custom hard top for my boat. Any recommendations for a person/shop who knows what they are doing. Has GOOD customer skills and charges a fair price?

Can't provide any references, but you may want to consider a rotational device so you can lower it for bridges... What's wrong with the bimini top?

Also, over here in Englewood, there are several marine shops & fabricators in the industrial park (Worth Ave and Avenue of the Americas) that might be worth checking out if you have time to drive out here on a week day.

Nothing really....just want to add more flexibility to my vessel. I have an idea in my head. The hard top would not be any higher than the bimini when it's up...so bridges should not be an issue.

So I take it you need EVERYTHING.. Including a custom built 1-1/2" Aluminum Pipe Frame.. Thats going to cost $$$ Frame and Hard Top All One Off.. You are for sure talking a few big ones..

I was just talking to a T-top fabricator last week (I'll be darned if I can find his business card) about getting a top made for my Whaler, only I was looking at a canvas top. His price was $2300 plus another $600 for an electronics box. He's on El Jobean at the Gulf Coast Marine Center's used boat lot. I don't know if he offers hard top options nor do I have any references from his work although he did have some of his work on site and it looks nice.
I need to call MikeM8560 and see if he has any recommendations for a fabricator.

It will be interesting to read what it cost, thats for sure. Say $2500 for the Frame and maybe $1000 to $1500 for the rigid top..Routing Electronics and Electrics?? Make sure the are NOT coring it with ANY TYPE of wood... JSYK that is a REAL Issue later.. 1000's of post's have desribed how someone drilled through the hard top and now the present owner is stuck with a huge mess and a huge cost!!! My Top looks very much like MikeM8560's mine is on a 1998 - 24' Seaswirl Striker W/A with a Single 200 HP OB. You have not mentioned what Make Year and model boat you have.. I was up in Sarasota not long ago, looking around at the Marine Salvage Yards and saw Numerous Hard Tops for sale and Numerous Soft T Tops to ...
