I KNOW this is a shot in the dark, BUT we're trying to do our planning for (hopefully) our retirement and move to PC in 3 years. Does anyone know of a website I could go to where I could put in my info and get a health insurance quote without having to commit to anything? I don't want to be deluged with insurance agents, but we need a ball park figure to put into our expenses checklist! Thanks!

Medicare with a supplemental policy..... I guess it all depends on your age to what type of health insurance you my have.

Right. All the websites I've ever tried for that are aimed at extracting information rather than providing it, and you know what happens after that. If you find one, let us know. Depending on your medical history, the cheapest short-term solution may be COBRA coverage, if you had an employer plan.

Will do.
Unfortunately for us, COBRA probably won't work, because his employer's insurer is local. More like an HMO with their own doctors and hospitals, with none in Florida. Although I suppose COBRA out of network would be better than nothing.

I know what you mean. When we lived in SoCal, we had Kaiser, with their own hospitals, GP's, pharmacies, etc. By sheer good luck, our daughter went to college in Atlanta, then grad school in Baltimore, and both places had Kaiser hospitals. But, the out of network coverage was really not good, except for emergency care. If you're in good health, and mainly concerned about catastrophic coverage, it might still be OK, especially if you plan to travel "back home" at all - check carefully with the benefits coordinator, of course.

Florida Blue - http://www.bcbsfl.com/

United Health Care - Health Insurance - Individual & Family, Employer, Medicare | UnitedHealthcare

Aetna - www.aetna.com/index.html

I checked all plans as a self-employed person during open enrollment time. I did not have to speak with anyone. I looked up their plans online and compared them. Then I contacted two reps to discuss the plans and I am glad I did. What I thought I was reading was not the case. The plan I thought I would go with after reading them on my own, the two local hospitals wouldn't even accept patients with Blue Care. Be sure to get a plan that fits your needs and the type of doctors that you see on a regular basis. Not all plans are the same.

Not sure what the deal is with Florida Blue, but 2 of the specialists my wife has been to see had signs posted "we do not accept Florida Blue". I tried the Aetna website, and it was very easy to use. Unfortunately, I found that the premium for me and my wife would be $1100 per month with a $13,200 deductible and no prescription, vision or dental coverage. COBRA from my employer is $900 per month, $1000 deductible, full prescription, vision and dental. No doubt not for everybody, but if you can get it, it can be a good deal.

<cough, choke, cough>

Obviously said tongue in cheek.... the "AFFORDABLE" Care Act made our premiums and deductibles skyrocket.
