A few months ago, in the area of Gulfstream & David Blvds, the County had the roads "oiled" of some sort. They then covered them with small gravel and had orange "loose gravel" signs placed in the road. The treatment is supposed to extend the life of the asphalt, or so I was told.

60 years ago I remember crews oiling and then sanding the roads but the road was a dirt road to begin with, never heard of doing this to a paved road

I just got a notice that my street will be done Monday (oh boy). They say it is done to replace the oils lost from the sun and rain makes sense, I suppose.
