Thx Gary I will look into that.
Non salt system doesn't actually remove the minerals but converts them to crystals so they don't stick to your pipes, dishes glassware etc. no scale

Your filtering your water to soften it.... The Salt is what is used in a brine solution to back wash / clean the membrane of the filter. If your tasteing salt in your water your system is malfunctioning or you interuppted the cleaning cycle .. We have had sofeners for most of the last 27 years and I have "almost" always used softened house water to feed / water my plants.. Your water is " softened " because it no longer has the minerals.. I have to ask? How would you replace, hard minerals with salt? To each his own do as you wish.. EXCEPT The Killing of your plants part, thats just plain untrue. You may have to make up for the lack of essential minerals for some plants blablabla .. The X wife was a Horticulturalist and we used house water on all our plants and we had plants everyone envied. We didnt have much for furniture but we had Huge Tropical Plants , inside in The 70's.. long before just about anyone except Hotels and Restaurants had Life Size Mature Plants indoors in the snow belt..

Here is an example of a better different option thats much cheaper and uses no salt.
