Even with the improved economy all I see are retail or physical labor jobs around here. At 30 years old I wonder if there are any other options around here at all. Classifieds are basically the same jobs every day: cook, secretary, CNA, CDL. As a college graduate with a Business Degree, I wonder if I'm in an impossible situation that just won't get better. I've applied to places outside the local area, but most of those companies want people who live closer to the job. Any advice?

Have you tried HertZ? They're moving their headquarters to Fort Myers; I don't know when or if there will be opportunities there.

Well, this is a highly residential area, so service sector is the primary "industry" in these parts. I would suggest that you either look into the coastal cities like Ft. Myers, Tampa, St. Pete, or try to find employers offering telecommuting options.

I have alot of FGCU graduates working for me. They can't find jobs in the field of their degree.

I wonder if it is the result of the ridiculous "degrees" they offer these days?

What kind of ridiculous degree do they offer "these days" that wasn't available before?

Well, what is a "business degree" exactly? I'm sure it's a huge step up from a Liberal Arts degree but.....

Business degrees have been around long before "these days". They aren't new.

The degree often requires courses in : marketing, accounting, economics, finance, law/contracts, communications, hr, management, IS, QA, operations.
