Got a small dorm refrigerator on the lanai. Always great for a cold one.

Sounds like the general consensus is "go for it". The one dissension was the possibility of rusting out due to the humidity and probably salt air. While it would probably be accelerated vs being inside, I think it'd be pretty much a no-op. from a lifespan point of view.

I have two wine coolers in my garage like the ones here. They don't seems to use any more energy then in the house. But probably do because it's a little warmer.

Physical deterioration aside.. This device will tell you what its costing to be in an A/C space versus a Ambient or more garage.

A refrigerator in the lanai makes a lot of sense, from an economy point of view.
  • You economize on the number of steps to the frig
  • You economize on calories burned
  • You economize on pulse rate
  • You release less heat into the atmosphere because the time that ice cold beer does its work is shortened
  • Every time you open the lanai frig, you are combating global warming
Overall, it's a win-win for man and nature.
