PERFECT!! (Thank you for some numbers) I have YET TO MEET a construction Worker , Working In PC Fla. who makes over $20 an hr..BTW I have meet quiet a few and NONE have benefits either I Out Right ASK THEM.I know them well enough to ask... so $20 + 20% = $24 plus 50% Profit!! = $36 an hr. ( I am not picking on you Mr Sunshine but I believe you have to admit you see the following) The boss/owner of small local Roofing Company who's driving a $48,000 Ford Raptor and crying about the cost of his company Over Head / vehical? Or How about the One I see Driving The 2014 Corvette Convertible? I know these two guys... they sing the same song BH is trying to sing hahahahaa... So Are some of you saying you want 50% Profit On Top Of Over Head?? Really?

This aint ever going to end

ok so lets take the 2 guys who went to this job for 4.5 hours............they had to travel (lets be generous and say 30 mins each way) so that 5.5 hours......the boss probably had to allow for over runs so if that was the only job they did that day that dilutes the hourly rate down by 5/8 ...does he provide a van / gas ? any benefits etc .....it goes on

SeaRay nails it....whats the premium anyone should charge for taking the risks.......? if one of my guys screws up and ruins a door...who pays...me.............if he loses any of my tools, who pays ....me
if he takes longer to do a job...........me.............. Hey he had a weeks vacation last week : productivity zero, who pays - oh yea ,me !!

I think quite a few workers (subs ) are getting over $20 (whether they earn it is a different matter). as to what someone drives , who is to say he didn't save hard rather than go out drinking/smoking etc.............the ones who moan about not being paid enough are usually the ones propping up bars every night.............

besides, who works out what is fair profit for the boss working evenings/weekends etc .....I have told many 'workers' ...you finish at 5 and go home......I finish on site at 5 and take my work home with me...........

It's good to know that someone is hear to straighten you two guys out!! Obviously you both started at the top,and didn't work your way up! I'm glad I'm retired so I never had to work for you two guys. Who the heck wants to work for the MAN whose gonna make so much money - the easy way!!

Oh, and Mac - you should open a business school teaching everyone how easy it is to get a big fast car, and a fancy house! Ahh! But then you'd be one of them nasty business owners ripping off the poor workers - what a catch 22! :-(. I think your plan to teach these guys is working out just fine!!

Those numbers were For one guy and you couldnt even accomplish simple math or you chose to try and again to decieve the public .. $20 + as was stated 20% and then add 50% and thats for One Guy.. Do you really expect to own 2 homes and your 40 foot cabin cruiser off the work of one guy? hahahaha

Your not running a UNION Shop in Fla. , your not offering Union Wages nor are you paying benefits like Family Health Care Coverage or a pension or an annuity.. you put what you offer on the check and its not much.. I have been watching this for 46 years.. ( BTW the YOU is generic terminology )

Few down here provide company vehicles..( Thats OK Usually Only The Foreman gets a company truck) Did he pay them for the day inspite of only having 4.5 hours work for them or did they have another job to go to or did they in fact go home? These are ALL UNKNOWNS...

SeaRay nails it....whats the premium anyone should charge for taking the risks.......? if one of my guys screws up and ruins a door...who pays...me.............if he loses any of my tools, who pays ....me

You sound like your claiming to be a UNION Contractor.. but as I Hear from the workers things dont always go as you implied..Hey he had a weeks vacation last week : productivity zero, who pays - oh yea ,me !! Who Pays what? Your claiming you pay him vacation Hahahahahaha!!!!! Who do you think your talking to some dummy off the street.. I have been in construction since 6/6/69 Non Union Contractors have NEVER Paid Union Wages or Union Benefits They require that their workers supply most their own power tools.. I have watched this go on for 46 years..

I think quite a few workers (subs ) are getting over $20 (whether they earn it is a different matter). as to what someone drives , who is to say he didn't save hard rather than go out drinking/smoking etc.............the ones who moan about not being paid enough are usually the ones propping up bars every night............. You THINK quite a few are making over $20 an hr but I have been talking with them for years and I am not hearing that..You say you THINK and I say I HEAR..humm?

besides, who works out what is fair profit for the boss working evenings/weekends etc .....I have told many 'workers' ...you finish at 5 and go home......I finish on site at 5 and take my work home with me...........
Your not swinging a hammer your not hanging drywall you better not be installing Electrical or Plumbing without a License .. So tell me again what ARE you doing on the site for 8 hours a day?
I am NOT Saying the Money and Chicks are free..... I am saying what I see and hear from the guys doing the work for 46 years..

You can smart mouth me all you want, its a chat board.. You can even make the claim( as you have been doing ) that I say things that I never said, ( that Reflects poorly on you NOT on me) you can do it all you want, because again its a chat board. Most of what you claim I said, I never said! HERE IS HOW I have watched it work for 46 years.. A Young fellow gets a entrance level job at some non-union construction company. ( He will more than likely NEVER GET any formal schooling oor traing . Scabs dont have training programs ) .. After a few years of watching 1 or 2 or maybe...if he is lucky very lucky , he can try and learn his craft from working with 6 other untrained unschooled guys. He begins to feel he's pretty good about his new craft, he even begins to think.... he knows it all!! BTW he really doesnt know how much he knows or doesnt know.. He doesnt know because, the only tradesmen he has ever been around or can compare himself to, are these few fellows he has been working with, and most of them dont hold licenses and are not being paid The Top Of The Scale for the industry they work in.. you see they too as I mentioned earlier, have never been formally schooled or formally trained at their craft ( STOP RIGHT HERE.. this isnt a big deal for drywallers and knockdown finish guys and a few others and certainly not as important for Residential Work, there just is not as much to know in Residential work IN MOST CASES.) anyway.... he feels , he's doing all the work and he feels he's getting paid very poorly for it.. He thinks his boss is cheating him and he is tired of it. So he starts side-jobbing.. in time his sidejobs turn into a full time business. Whats he do now? YOU GUESSED IT ! If he gets big enough he hires someone to help him and he does to them, the same damn thing he accused his boss of doing to him. I have watched this play out over and over again for 46 years.. BTW I can show youwhere Union Electrical Apprentices go to school for 5 years and the books they use for 5 years..and The Federally accepted promram they MUST COMPLETE.. You cannot make the same claim.. There was for awhile an attempt to compete with the Union App Training Programs by the ABC Non Union Contractors I dont think it still exist.??
Formal Apprenticeship Programs do vary by trade.. I KNOW about My Trade first hand.. I have known guys and a few gals in all the trades.. and I have heard about their training programs, but I have never attended them..but I know they exist. Like I said I did this for a long time and worked and ran jobs all over America.
