Tough to make it in the restaurant biz. In 8 years I never went to either of those. Always wanted to try Portofinos..that's the one near Bayshore Park, right? Nice building. Good views.

Portifino's Food was not all that good. Nice place to have a drink and watch the sunset and had live music during winter months.

Not surprised about Habachi Grill buffet. That's the one in the parking lot of the new Walmart Marketplace, right? I was there once and thought the food didn't have much taste to it.
Never tried Portifino's...Hopefully the new Sunset Grill will make a good go at it. Seems with it being right on the water it's already got the atmosphere...just needs good food at decent prices.

Portofinos was ok, but too fancy for the area on the inside. Outdoors was casual, but we ate inside once during a chilly winter dinner and it was a bit stuffy, which we're not in to. Captains table (above Harpoon Harry's) is also making big changes to become more trop-casual. I ran into the manager last week and they are already seeing great results from making the change from upscale to casual, at least according to him...

We've been to Portofino's TWICE and they said they were closed, or closing shortly, and wouldn't serve us.

And they probably can't figure out why their business failed.

From the sounds of it you were probably better off not eating there!

You didn't miss anything by not eating at Portofino's. The view and location is so good, they need to have food to match. Looking forward to the new place opening, will have to give them a try.

Yes, we had eaten there once, and it was so-so. We have always thought it was a GREAT location, and too bad it wasn't run better. We too are looking forward to checking it out.
