Hi Everyone!

My family and I are vacationing in Port Charlotte over the Christmas holidays (December 2015). I was wondering if anyone could recommend private at home swimming lessons. So basically we would go to someone's house or they would come to us. We would want to fit as many lessons in as possible while we are there. My kids are 5 and 3 and can both swim with water wings. The oldest can go under water very briefly with goggles. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Maybe if you call the YMCA in Port Charlotte you can get some helpful information. Another recreational center in Charlotte County is the Tringali Center in Englewood. I'm not sure if any of these organizations will be able to give referals, but it's worth a try.

Hi.....I don't know where your vacationing but if your staying at a hotel or a condo where they have a pool with lifeguards on duty you can ask them if they would like to teach your children how to swim on their off time! I am an OLD life guard (did it in the late 70's) people would ask me all the time. I still get asked now. If I was going to be there at that time I would have been more than happy to help you but I won't be there till after Christmas. I hope you find someone. Good luck!

I first held back from saying this, but please make sure you know who is touching your little children and insist on being present during these lessons. Old, young..who cares? I hope I don't need to elaborate. Anyway, group lessons are more fun for kids. Just make sure you get good, screened references, not names from strangers on an internet board. No offense meant.

I come with A LOT of references! I would NOT give ANY WRONG information to ANYONE on this board or ANY OTHER board! And for you to imply that I would was wrong! I do take offense because your judging ME! You don't even know me! I am sure any MOTHER would NOT ALLOW there child/children with a STRANGER! If you read the first thread this mother wrote she wanted it to be at her place or the lifeguards place so the children WOULD NOT be ALONE! You obviously missed the point!

Exactly!

I wasn't even referring to you. I was only giving some advice to the OP. How would I know anything about you? As you wrote..I don't even know you. Your reaction to a total stranger on the internet was way over the top.
