My husband and I are in the middle of relocating from Northern Virginia to Punta Gorda. We own a house in Deep Creek and will be heading down this week to oversee kitchen renovations. We'd like to know if anyone can tell us how many trick-or-treaters we should expect. I know that different neighborhoods will have different numbers, but we'd appreciate at least a ballpark figure.

We know the age demographics are much different from our current home. When we moved here 16 years ago, we'd see over 150 kids at our door. Over the years, numbers dropped to as low as 10-20, but they've been picking up recently.

A friend of mine heard that some areas in Florida don't have trick-or-treating at all; parents take their kids to a town-sponsored event (with games, haunted house, etc). I saw that Punta Gorda has Haunting on the Harbor. Is there anything to do for folks without kids?

Bottom line...what can we expect next weekend? Thanks.

I know in our area of PC that we had maybe 20 kids. Very few in our area. Other areas have a lot of kids.

In Deep Creek sec 23 it has varied widely in our area from over 120 2 years ago to around 35 last year. Better to buy extra candy you don't mind eating instead of running out.

Depends where in DC you are. We'll be taking our kids to PG for trick or treating (as we have for the last 4 years). In our corner of DC we have yet to have anyone stop by the house, but we are on a small dead end side road. There is a group of folks down on another side road that have a little get together every year. Maybe you could just go for a walk about and see what others have going on nearby.
