Today there was a dark red and black helicopter flying around BSI area for hours. Expected to be around for a few more days. It is taking real estate pictures.

Surprised they don't use a drone for that. Much less expensive alternative.

Using a drone for real estate photos requires approval and submission of a flight plan to FAA. There are a lot of sticky issues and law suits right now over that. Some people claim they are using it as a hobby and are not required to file a flight plan, others who charge money for the service are required to. There are constant changing regulations and people who are using a drone need to make sure they are following the regulations.

So, are you saying that you can fly a helicopter without doing the same? Not arguing; just curious.

The original poster said it was taking real estate photos. The CC appraisers will come by the neighborhood with some B.S. story about how they lost some of their files and want to come onto your property and take pictures in order to "update" their system.

The
They have never offered any excuses when they came around here with their cameras to take pictures of the property "improvements". The last time the guy just knocked on the door to tell us he was out there to check out the new riprap and dock.
