they fly outta newburgh which for us isn't so bad being in the myc metro area, but it means going into st. pete airport. not a bad thing either.

we have family that fly to pgi outta ohio (cincinnati i think), it's very inexpensive (relatively speaking) from there & back.

even islip to pgi wasn't bad when they did it, usually under 200 per round trip even if booked close to last minute, depending on season.

Good luck with that. We tried that here in Maine, when they wanted to expand the airport or make it accessible to more and larger planes. We learned that our city councilors here do what they want, not what their constituents are requesting. One home down the street had a small plane land on its roof while heading to our airport, and it burst into flames. Killed the pilot. Fortunately, the homeowners were not home, but the house was a total loss, of course. Even that did not give our city council pause.

The airport brings in so much money that they will never stand in the way of future expansion, NEVER, just too much of a money maker. When they decide to expand the deal will be done way before the public even knows about it.

Why do you think they get such a sweet deal on their rent?

As a part time PGI resident I would love to see Allegiant offer flights near my northern Maryland home. The Harrisburg airport is nearly an hour and a half drive and they only fly out on Sunday & Thursday. I wonder if they could expand the rail system and use high speed trains, or better yet I wish I could click my heels and say beam me up...lol

Don't they fly out of Hagerstown? Still too far for us being between Balto & Annapolis but maybe closer to you?

Harrisburg is 1hr and 24min from my house (Catonsville) and I love this little airport. For a long weekend we fly down on Thursday and return on Sunday. For a weeks trip we fly down on Thursday and return 10 days later on Sunday. Allegiant is so much cheaper than those other airlines and has direct flights too.
