My wife and I are kind of new to the area. We moved here to be closer to my mother whos going through some stuff. We've been staying with my sister, but there just isn't enough room with us and her children.

So we are looking to find an efficiency, or perhaps even a motel in the PG area with weekly or bi-weekly rates? It would be greatly appreciated if anyone knows of such a place. We need to stay in a place while we search for a place of our own. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks and have a great day.

When we first started coming down on a budget back in 07/08, we stayed several times at the Banana Bay on Bayshore. People talk crap about them, but I'm sure most have never stepped foot on the property. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and friendliness. And it's right on the harbor. "Old Florida" efficiencies. Back then they were like $79-89/night I believe (not in high season of course)

I stayed at Banana Bay a couple times also while looking down here. Can't beat the waterfront location for the price.

I also rented a nice house nearby by the night for a week one time, cost $50/night with 3bdr and a pool....but that will be next to impossible this time of year.

You might want to search airbnb.com and see if anything is available.

We were always pleased with Banana Bay too, until our most recent stay, this past January. I went through the whole situation on the phone with the woman who owns the place, explained we would be staying in the room the first night, with a small dog, and then the next two nights we were leaving, and our daughter and her boyfriend would be taking over the room, the dog would be there the whole time.
When we checked in, we had a very pleasant conversation with a younger guy, I assumed he was her son. He fawned over the dog, she is pretty cute, and we chatted about his dog. Well, on the morning after our daughter and bf had moved into the room, the woman stopped him and gave him a really hard time, demanding to know who he was, and why he had a dog in the room, and he had to pay extra money, I forget how much, on the spot for having her there. It was quite bizarre. We were embarrassed, as we had told them what a great place it was. We also had noticed some fairly sketchy residents a couple doors down too.

Warm Mineral Springs Motel has be updated recently. A couple of sets of friends have stayed there and reported it to be pleasant and the efficiency units were very useful.
I noticed that the online ratings are not very high and I cannot speak from personal experience but it might be worth a call.

For what it's worth, I've had success in the past by calling realtors, or especially property management companies, and describing to them exactly what you wrote in your post. Often they have something that may not be quite ready to go on the rental or selling market and is just sitting there vacant, so getting some income out of it for a spell is a plus for them and for you.
