We are trailering our boat to our PGI home tomorrow.

My question is how do you maintain/clean your boat while it is on the lift? Are there products to use on your hull (in and out) for cleaning that are environmentally OK to go into the water?

I understand I can put my boat on the trailer and take to the car wash, but putting the boat on a trailer is a big production (trailer stored elsewhere).

I guess I could just use something like baking soda or vinegar which will dilute with wash water and canal water.

Any suggestions?

Mike

Mike my boat gets detailed on my lift every few months with no issues. I bought a 16' expandable scaffold for the water side to walk along (penny's compared to the lift installer plank) and I can get most of the boat this way. Like HH stated there are plenty of eco friendly products on the market, I believe simple green is one.
I have a great detailer actually from NJ if you need one.

Is your lift covered? If not consider spraying 303 on your upholstery to help lengthen their integrity and overall life span.

Hi SeaRay,

Any chance you have or can take a pic of your expandable scaffold? I've been wondering how I can clean my boat while on the lift, without risking life and limb, or spilling my beer!

Thanks.

Thanks SeaRay, that's pretty slick. So I assume you have two points on the outside of your lift to place this? That's what I'm trying to envision. Price is right too and I never abuse alcohol........ in that way!
