Any good leads on gently used boats in the area?
I will eventually move the PG and would like to hear from locals on favorite boat dealers. Looking for a boat in the 25-32 ft range.

When I was boat shopping I just kept an eye on Craigslist and Boattrader.

Default That's a NO

I moved down here a year ago and haven't found anything on Craigslist or Boat Trader that was not over priced. I even look at Facebook Marketplace.
Boats down here are expensive. I recommend you buy one up north before you come down. A friend of mine did his research and bought one on his way down.

Second that, and Rhode Island has no sales tax on boats, I believe. That may save you some 5-7% right there.
Check for boats expos schedule as well.

Yes, some of the 27 ft boats on Boat Trader are more than the houses in PG. Insane....I'm just looking for something to do some cruising and fishing.
So you don't recommend the local marinas?

I looked for over 2 years. Craigslist is a bunch of scammers IMO. There are some good ads/sellers but I've found far in between. Ads like 'Boat for sale'. 'Runs good, $20K' No description, etc. Drive out and it's a POS. That's if they get back to you after leaving a text/voicemail/email.
Anyway, car shopping for my MIL in Dec in another state and the boat I finally got here was through FaceBook Marketplace.
I hate the layout and yes, you'll still find scams, peeps that don't answer direct messages, etc. But that's where I found a car and a boat in the past couple months.
The marinas I've gone to locally are too $$ for me. Yes some nice units but seem to be very expensive.
Of if you like to travel, YachtWorld dot com. Still dealers but you get to see what's out there.

Remember skinny water here unless you stay in the channel. If you go Inboard, you'll be limited to where you can go. or visit the travel lift and the prop shop more than the rest of us.

Welcome!

Seems to me, the local dealers around PC/PG only want to sell new boats for a premium price.
Hard to find used inventory that are worth the money.

I've talked to a few brokers too; but they try to push the big money boats.

Like you, I just want something to do a little cruising around the area on good days. I won't use it enough to spend 50K+ and get my money out of it.

If you find something, please post here.

Thanks,

....
If memory serves me correctly (and that's getting to be less and less as I get older), you'll pay tax on a boat that you bring from out of state when you title it here in FL.
