Harbor Freight- filling American garages with cheap foreign made tools since 1977......

I can imagine how many people will now inherit grandpa's tool collection but instead of getting vintage snap on or even USA made Craftsman they will instead get HF stuff!

I was an engineer for Klein Tools for 14 years (proudly American made since 1859), and I have a garage full of them. However, when I need to restock my zip tie collection, or buy a use-once-in-10 years tool, I have no problem going with a cheap China one. I certainly wouldn't stock my toolbox with them if I were making a living with those tools. It's very likely 90%+ of all items we own are made overseas... This is not a new thang...

I love Klein stuff! I was buying a pair of strippers/dykes at Home Depot and they didn't have what I really wanted but I wasn't buying the "Greenlee" made in China crap so I bought a Klein piece that was close to what I needed. I sent a note to Klein and one of the owners sent a reply thanking me for the sale and included the exact tool I was trying to buy in the first place! He said it was a brand new product, hadn't hit the shelves yet and gave it to me as a thank you. First class, and really good tools also!

there's one in north Ft. Myers and a Northern Tool also..

I bought a cut off tool from HF..used it the other day for the first time to cut some rusty bolts off of the boat trailer..half way through the bolt I twisted the blade just a bit causing the motor to stop......never to work again..lol..$19.99 down the drain..

Oh I am a Klein Tool fan as well. I own some of the cable strippers and crimp tools. They just work and last forever.

I'd be careful with cheap zip ties, particularly if used outside. The cheap ones just don't stand up to UV exposure..kind of an issue in FL.

And ALWAYS buy the black ones. The white ones are NEVER UV stabilized.
