We have an old pool that needs an upgrade. Everyone quotes us pavers, I do not like pavers! What are the other options? We have a simple bungalow and I want a pool that goes with the house.

Just had our pool and deck done recently. Their are numerous options for recoating your pool deck. Our deck had settlement cracks in it and regardless of the new coatings we could go with I was afraid they would show or new cracks would appear eventually. We ended up going with the 1 inch pavers over the old deck, Best thing we ever did. Now no matter what happens with the old deck (settlement wise) we will never have to look at cracks in our deck. it really does take away from the look when it's all said and done. Good luck

Another option is a rubber deck. We had that laid over our kool-crete deck (which was a pain to keep clean) and love it. It's non-skid, does not get hot, drains quickly and is UV resistant. Looking at it you could not tell it is rubber. Looks more like crushed stones. Its basically small rubber particles that are glued down. You can mix and match multiple colors to get neat affects.

More info PLEASE. We have kool-crete too, and it is a pain to keep clean.

We have pavers and don't like them but they would be ok if we could find something to fill the cracks between them

Well we used an outfit out of Sarasota called SWE Pools. They lay it down with a hand trowel. Basically a 1/4 inch layer. It comes in a variety of collars and you can mix colors. Ours has red, khaki and white. It is pourous (doesn't look it) so it drains quickly. Its pleasant on the feet and is non-skid. Does not get hot like pavers. It does not look like rubber. More like very small pebbles.

High traffic areas can get a little dirty from sandals but nothing like kook crete.
