Got a PC neighbor on my canal that has a sunken boat (I/O dual console) tied up to dilapidated dock which just recently showed up. Additionally, there have been for a while now, a pair of old junk Pontoon Boat Float Tube Logs just floating around while tied to their seawall. The whole thing is a huge eyesore and possibly an environmental pollution risk.

When the tide rises, water gets into the engine compartment that has no lid. God knows what fluids are getting out into the canal. The tenets appear as a strange bunch for reasons I'm not going to discuss here but I'm not going to get into it personally with such a group.

My question is what agency I should report this to to get it corrected? I googled this but found a lot of conflicting info. Being on a private dock, it complicates matters apparently.

I'm the last person that wants or likes to report on neighborhood compliance issues but this mess of floating garbage is just overboard.

Thx

Could you clarify? A report on what exactly?

Looking through Charlotte County Access TV Code Violation Meetings, I found that property had a hearing last October for a multitude of junk related violations but nothing pertaining to the junk docked outback in the water was mentioned. I wonder if the County doesn't enforce such violations.

Start with your city code enforcement, then try county level code enforcement

Then FWC:

Filed complaints with Florida EPA and the City. Turns out this home has a long list of code violations just over the past couple years with thousands in liens. According to those recent violations, I was right in my assessment of the tenants being shady, in fact they're living like squatters.

Hopefully this blight gets corrected. Thx

I'd try the Coast Guard since it's a possible environmental issue due to fuel/oil polluting the water.

That may be my next step. Lets see how it goes with agencies aware of these issue so far.

The sunken boat used to be located at a property out on the main canal. Apparently they found a method/place to dispose of it. Pretty sure the previous property is the one that was cited for the junk and other issues.
