Wouldn't hurt letting the local police know about this. If they are not responsive, try the county attorney or district attorney. If these guys are that bad, you are not the first nor the last person they will rip off. Local authorities need to know and you might think that it does no good, but the locals keep track of this sort of stuff as they like to get re-elected. And if the guy is truly a criminal, then it needs to stop.

licensed and insured in several states and in business 20 years. I told them the other day that I've had 3 roofs done in 3 houses and have not had to see the roofer a 2nd time with the exception of this time, the 4th time and he's been back 5 times and still leaking in the house. Be careful out there folks.

Having a new roofer here tomorrow. Hopefully this gets fixed tomorrow but with all the rain hopefully not tomorrow heh.

Ideally we can get this done, then shape the rest of the place and arrivederci port charlotte ( hopefully ) after nearly 20 years. But that's for another thread another time.

Sure but there's procedures one needs to follow. We cannot just file a lawsuit and hope it goes anywhere. My office once upon a time a long time ago was inside a law firm in Ft Lauderdale as my then business partner was an atty there. I could tell you stories lol of what sometimes takes place when clients ears cannot hear in some law firms You always should establish a paper trail that you can prove your case in front of a judge. ALWAYS put things in writing when in doubt and always be ready to prove they got it or at least signed for it.

And roger that on the stopped payment...one must do more than that and I have. The dumbest part of this is how we called a roofer who just did the flat roof next door for people who JUST moved in from the midwest. You would think we would know better after all these years in Fla.....oye vey

So tomorrow weather permitting should be illuminating and then we still don't know, do we, until we have a major rain unless a major rain can be replicated with a hose ( can it? ) if it doesn't rain....as we get near that time of the year when it stops.

Ok, seems like getting a reputable roofer here is a daunting task BUT we think we found one! It's been tough and one, even told me FU when I told him I was going with a different estimate. Ahh Port Charlotte.

This roofing company put Everything in writing and my realtor friend says they have been around for a long time. Stay tuned, I WILL post name when complete.

Well I don't know what to say. Had the estimate now a couple weeks ago and was told, in a couple of weeks we be all done. Well it's been a couple weeks and I can't seem to get an answer on whether or not we are even on a schedule with them asking " did you sign the estimate"?
Bizarre
Does anyone have any roofer recommendations to tear off and replace a lanai flat roof in Port Charlotte?

Roof shingles are backordered. There are significant supply issues across the country, especially with all the storms along the gulf coast from the hurricanes.

From April 2021 and it has gotten worse due to the increased in damaging storms.

"The message is as stark as it is simple — the roofing industry is experiencing a supply chain disruption that’s unlike any other in recent memory. And it’s going to be a while before it gets better.

“We’re having that disruption in almost every area, and some in ways you may not even see,” said National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) CEO Reid Ribble during a special webinar on the topic that drew roughly 500 participants from around the country.

A series of factors are to blame — none more striking than a true global crisis with COVID-19. Lockdowns that essentially stopped buying and manufacturing processes for two months had a cascading effect on the industry that continues to be an issue. In addition to raw material pinches felt in the manufacturing chain, Ribble said issues with transportation — trucking in particular — are also impacting how roofing contractors can stay on schedule.

Other events, like the Texas freeze, blockage of the Suez Canal, and an ongoing trade war with China contribute to the trickle-down effect."
