I guess I should throw Punta Gorda into the mix, too....

My loosely structured plan is to find (rent) a canalfront place for a year while I search around for a permanent place to hang my hat (and hopefully dock my boat). Nothing too fancy -- it'll be at the lower end of the $ scale.

Anyone have an opinion about Port Charlotte vs. Cape Coral vs. Punta Gorda... I know it's a broad question, but any and all words of wisdom would be appreciated!

Thank you!

I'm partial to PG/PC over the Cape. Mostly because I like boating Charlotte Harbor and the rivers feeding into it. The peace river is my favorite, miles of natural shore line and easy to boat even when the winds blowing. The grass beds in Charlotte Harbor are great fishing, and of course tarpon are plentiful all spring, summer, and fall.

Thanks you guys for replying.

Just got a lead for a place on the OTHER coast, on a navigable canal, within walking distance to the beach.

I know the boating doesn't measure up to the West coast, but I think I'm going to go for it, and then spend the next year investigating a permanent home "over there..."

What kind of boat, you ask? Man, I can't wait to find out!

Thanks again... see ya on the water..........
