Our experience in Punta Gorda was all retirement age neighbors. It is a beautiful area and we think about returning but would like a neighborhood where our neighbors would have children that can play in the neighborhood. Is there any such communties?

Default Deep Creek

Deep Creek is located just off mile marker 170. It has alot of families with plenty of kids around. It is not in Punta Gorda proper (the county hands policing and fire) but it does have a Punta Gorda mailing address.

Deep Creek is a decent suggestion. You might also want to try Charleston Park in North Port or moving a little farther north you could check out Palmer Ranch-Turtle Rock, Stonebridge, The Hamptons, Deer Creek. Or maybe Osprey would be to your liking-Rivendell. Those are the neighborhoods that come to mind, depending on what you're willing to spend.

Good luck with it!

I live in North Port.

The people across the street moved here from Punta Gorda so their children could attend Pine View School here in Sarasota County -- ranked as one of the Best in the United States. But don't consider Pine View unless your children make high grades and like to be challenged.

The folks from Punta Gorda have kept their home there for weekends use, etc. because they find it a delightful place to live.

You can't go wrong in this area.

Do you think there are pockets or certain communities in North Port that are young or do you think the whole area is generally younger with families?

The average age in North Port is 38. I really think most of North Port is younger, with the exception of maybe Cypress Falls, which is 55+.
