I understand the theory of 'sex sells'. 99% of the time, it's true.

But, vulgar sex-orientated commercials should only be aired later at night, and not in the afternoon. When I pick my children up from school, the last thing I pay attention to is the radio. This Friday, I had my two 11-year-old twins in my car. I ran inside for about 5 minutes to pick up a few assignments that one of them missed while he was sick.

By the time I got back into the car, both of them asked me what 'adult toys' were. Slightly mortified, I asked them where they heard that, and one of them told me 'on the radio'. Keep in mind, this on a 'family variety station' at 2:30 PM. Is this the best slot for these commercials to fill?

Does anyone think that commercials should be regulated?

Aren't they already regulated? Stations live in fear of FCC fines so the stuff they air is usually vetted pretty well.

I think I’ve seen enough commercials on tv that should be considered inappropriate for the viewers of that time of day/night, I’d love to see more FCC regulations on this subject however it’s not going to happen. Corporations and their lobbyists control the government and it’s agencies.

But that doesnt mean that the FCC cares about your kids as much as reducing complaints. I dont even have any kids and I agree, although I love sex too, that kids dont need to be seeing or hearing sexual inuendo yet. What for? Lets let 'em get an education, grow up first, and then decide if they want to center their existence around knockin boots.

I thought the purpose of FCC was to just give out fines. Having not heard the commercial in question it is hard for me to judge the appropriateness of it. I don't have kids but sort of know where you are coming from, OP. When you scroll through the guide on my DVR you see all the porno titles which I wouldn't want to explain to my kids if I had any.
