The simplest way to compile a list for yourself would be to go back to that outstanding Radio-Info.com: Radio's Online Community website, and go right down the list of markets, and make a note of the stations with the largest cumes (cumulative audience, or the number of listeners who listen to the station during any given daypart for at least 5 minutes), and you'll have your list.
Besides WHTZ (aka Z100) and KIIS-FM, other top 40 powerhouses would include WXKS/Boston, WNCI/Columbus OH & KHKS/Dallas.
What are the most popular FM/AM radio stations in America? I am trying to locate this information online but I have not been able to outside of public opinion and guesses.
So what are you using to define popularity if not public opinion? If you are going straight ratings you really should be able to Google it.
