Folks, we have lost (quite suddenly) a longtime radio host and disc jockey. David Kraddick, known to all of us as Kidd Kraddick, passed away yesterday from a brain aneurysm at an charity event in New Orleans. He was just 53 years of age. You may know that he is a longtime syndicated radio morning host and his show has been on a number of pop and mix stations throughout the country. I know him as a Dallas deejay (as he'd been based here for almost 30 years), working most recently at KHKS-FM (106.1) and, prior to that, at KEGL-FM (97.1) in Dallas. I remember meeting him in person back in the late-1980s at a KEGL fan event. He had a long and successful career in radio and we just lost him way too soon at a still-young age.
Rest in peace, Kidd. Thanks for so many great memories on our airwaves.
I'm going to miss him. I became a Kraddick addict 4 yrs ago. I feel like I lost a friend. I posted a FB message to him Friday and he responded Friday night. I didn't know that'll be my last time talking to him. I feel sorry for the cast. Kelly and Big Al have been with him for 19 and 18 yrs respectably.
So sorry to hear about Kraddick's death. I used to listen to him out of a radio station located in Wichita Falls, Texas. I really enjoyed his program; he, Kelly, and Big Al were always part of my morning back then.
His show made me look forward to the talking instead of the music.
That was a first for me and led me to try and enjoy other more talk-heavy programming.
I don't usually care about celebs, etc, but my favorite was always the Hizziewood Hizzle.
RIP, man...you did great work. Kidd's Kids will be an awesome legacy.
His show is in 75 US radio markets. There are only a bit over 200 markets in total, so the show's reach is impressive. This will be a sad week for many thousands of listeners.
When I mentioned Kidd's passing at the outset of this thread, it was originally believed by numerous sources that he had passed away from a brain aneurysm, but that ended up not being the case.
