I worked grave for a couple of years back in the early 90s and I always listened to Ray. I continued to listen to him when I moved to Washington state and heard KGO on their website. Ray was challenging to callers, spoke his mind, and said it like it was. I was privileged to hear his reading of the Constitution on July 4th. Ray, we will miss you.

Default Remembering Ray Taliaferro

I think about Ray now at Christmas time and listened to him for years. He made the bay area feel like home. The man was just a great communicator, gifted in this regard, and very interesting. I agreed with much of what he said covering the various topics and issues he confronted.

Even today, I am shocked that he's gone, and the way he died disturbs me. So many questions surrounding his death. He died alone in some podunk town in Kentucky, a state he likely would've declared that he "wouldn't be caught dead in. No question about it!". He apparently got lost while walking and ultimately froze to death. He wasn't discovered for weeks. Tragic.

Sad news indeed; another slice of classic San Francisco gone. I used to listen to Ray, Chris Clarke and the now-disgraced Bernie Ward at night on KGO to fall asleep in the early 90s...back when honest, level-headed conversations could still be had on politics and current events.
