My old pal finally gave up the ghost. He was still lively on Sunday afternoon, then started fading that evening. Wouldn't eat or drink the past two days, and expired this afternoon. He'd been medicated the past two years for CRF, a common condition in old cats. He was a laid-back personality, but a real character. Smart as can be.

I'm gonna miss the old guy. We grew old together.

So sorry for your loss. In my belief system, he is now running the great catnip fields of the sky, happy and healthy, with lots of new friends. My Katrina, who also died too young from CRF, is there with him.

I don't know what CRF is, but I know it's difficult to lose a pet. Buddy sounds like one cool cat. Enjoy the memories.

CRF = chronic renal failure

The vet told me when he diagnosed Buddy that it's a common malady with older cats, and that it can be treated, but not cured. So, he was on "borrowed time" his last 22 months. And those were good months for him. The last couple of days were pretty tough, though. For me more than him, I think.

Gringo I'm so sorry for your loss. You are blessed that you were able to grow old with your apparently much loved cat.

So sorry for your loss. I know it's very hard to watch them like that. May time heal your pain.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I agree with Southernbelle, Buddy is now running and playing, like a young kitten, chasing birds and mice in a bright, sunny field. My Charlie and Tobie are there too.

I'm so sorry for your loss! I lost a beloved cat to liver failure a few years back, and it was gut-wrenching...so I understand the pain you're in. Feel blessed that you got to experience the unconditional love of a feline companion, and know that his spirit is loving and guiding you from Rainbow Bridge, where he runs and plays, free from pain, until the time you will reunite once again. My heart goes out to you...(((HUGS)))
