Can someone post a picture of a lily?
The kind of lily that killed Honey was an asian lily:

These are probably the most common lilies you would find in grocery store bouquets and they come in several colors. The bouquet I received came from a Harris Teeter grocery store.

Lilies Deadly to Cats, Veterinarians Warn

Quote:
Members of the plant genus Lilium produce a chemical, present throughout the plant, that can cause a cat to suffer fatal kidney failure. It can be deadly for a cat to simply bite into a lily leaf or petal, lick lily pollen from its paws, or drink water from a vase containing cut lilies. Easter lilies, stargazer lilies, and Asiatic lilies seem to be the most hazardous of this group of plants.
...
The veterinarians note that while all plants of the Lilium genus should be considered extremely hazardous to cats, calla lilies and peace lilies, which don’t belong to the Lilium genus, are harmless to cats.

We are so sorry to hear of Honey's passing. Thank you for sharing this information...we were not aware of this, and we have a cat that will nibble on flowers/plants in the house...which is why we rarely have any in our home. You've at least save one cat's life by sharing your story. May peace be with you. Thank you.

Titania - there is no greater honor to Honey than sharing her story. I can only imagine how hard you are hurting.

But please know that Honey will always be remembered: by you, be everyone who knew her, by the people on this board, and by all who have learned from your experience.

I am so sorry for your loss, I do however thank you for telling of your story. I had no idea lillies were poisonous to pets.

OMG how very terrible for you to go thru, my heart and prayers are with you. So sorry for your loss. But it is the good people on this forum that every day those of us who don't know certain things do learn things of value, thank you so very much for the heads up. Never knew this myself about the lillies.

Thank you and because of you, there are a lot of cat lovers and owners who will not make the mistake that you have, thank you for that. Your baby was beautiful, hope soon you will start feeling better once again.
