I'm so sorry to hear about your pet. The same thing happened to me. I planned to take my 20 year old russian blue "Abbey" to the vet, but she passed away the night before she was supposed to see the vet.

I'm glad you have other cats to comfort you. We recently lost 3. Our house feels emptier, but with the 5 remaining cats - our hearts are still full.

It's odd how sometimes we plan to give them peace, and they choice to decide themselves it;s time to go - and instead, give us peace. Mookie sounds like a special guy.
