Just back from the vet. My little boy Chihuahua took his last trip. Held him in my arms to the last breath. He was just so far gone, and I couldn't see him suffer anymore. Now my other Chihuahua and I are cuddled on the couch trying to wrap our heads around it. I know it was the right thing, but it sure feels wrong. It hasn't fully hit yet. I keep listening for him wandering around the place. He always shook his head so hard his ears would flap. Now i wish I'd recorded that sound. That was my wake up call for 13 years. Weird the things you think about. Anyway, thanks all for having this thread. I'm going to make a shadow box tonight to remember him by.
Cowgirl, I'm sorry about your boy. The shadow box is a nice idea. I like to write down my favorite memories of my pets too. I know how strange it seems for awhile, and how lonely. You'll always miss him, but in time you'll be able to look at your shadow box and smile. ((hugs))
I am very sorry for your loss. While it never gets easier, you gave and received a great deal of love. That is what you need to remember and it will get better. Sending good thoughts your way.
Thank you all for your kind words. This is just hard. But you know that. I appreciate all of you.
