Miss Doo belonged to my older sister Terri, who was my closest friend. Terri had always been my hero, my teacher, my safe haven... all my life... But she became ill. She told me she did not have long, and asked me to take her Sweet Miss Doo, and I tearfully promised to love Miss Doo the same as Terri had done.
When my sister passed, Miss Doo came to live with me., and I have loved her for these last 10 years... And now... ohhhh, the pain is so deep! Miss Doo has gone to be with Terri, and I miss them both so much I feel like I can't breathe! I know I am a 52 year old woman, but I feel like a lost child.

Miss Doo was the most gentle natured fur person I've ever known... so much of my sister lived in her.
I miss her smilin doggie grin, and ridiculously large perky ears. Ears far too large for such a tiny head! But it was all a part of her Southern Belle charm. She was so kind. She would look at you as if asking "How was your day", and

"Would you like me to spit clean your face?"
She kept watch over our 3 kitties, and let them know when they were playing too rough... and she'd let them lay in her bed with her for naps... and I am certain that she believed they were her babies, since she acted like their Mama when each one came to be part of our family. She was a dang good person and a friend to all she met!

I miss her! I keep expecting to see her fussing after the kitties when they play "Commando Cats", or to watch her walk along outside with Mr. Gator Bone, our black lab/pb who was her Knight in shining armor, her body guard who escorted and protected her when out in the yard. He misses her too. He howled when we laid her in the ground. It shocked me to the core to hear that sound... so mournful... He lays on her resting place most of the time. They were such good friends. Both having mostly black fur, and big ears, she with her short little legs, Gator with his long legs... but they looked like they were made for each other as they went for their strolls, out here in the country.

I would like to post this small poem I wrote for her.

Miss Doobie Doo Lolly Lu

May 3, 1997 ~ September 9, 2012

You came into my life on a sunny springtime day.
With your winning smile and perky ears and gentle southern way.
Terri introduced us as you jumped into my lap...
You licked my face then jumped back down, and really made me laugh.

As time moved on our lives had changed, and Terri said good bye.
It broke our hearts to see her go, so we bent our heads to cry.
You came to live with me that day, and we faced the change together.
Knowing that we both would miss our sweet Terri forever.

But forever wasn't what we'd thought, and now we both do know...
That forever can be here today, and now, I am last to go.

I dream of you in Terri's arms, in a world that knows no pain.
Now I see you in the sunshine, hear your laughter in the rain.
I know you both are safely kept by our Father up above....
And I thank you sweet Miss Dooby Doo, for your kind and gentle love.

A wonderful tribute to both Terri and Miss Doo, their memories and spirits are so entwined. Through the sadness, it is clear that you feel the joy of them being reunited - take solace in that.
