I'm so sorry, so very sorry. Oh my god.
I was surprised at how quickly she went myself. I was "hoping" she might pull through.

Take comfort in the fact that she was in a place she knew and loved and that she was with someone who loved her very much. I would imagine not many animals are so fortunate.

My condolences to you.

take comfort in the fact knowing that you made her life better, by just being around you, your family, your love you caring for her etc... that her life was made all the better. And your life too was made better by building a relationship with her.

Death is never easy and yes it bloody sucks but faced with the choice of not having a dog, not building a relationship and thus when the dog died-you would feel nothing VS having a dog, sharing the unstoppable love, building a relationship etc.. and thus feeling immense pain when the dog passes. I often find that the pet owner is happy to have known and built a friendship with the dog, that yes in spite of the intense pain of the dog's passing, it was all worth it.
