I had posted previously about losing my dog in 2017. Even though the grief has lessened I still have very low periods. My little guy was my companion and best friend and got me through some rough times. I still miss him terribly though. I adopted a cat a year ago, whom I love very much. I know he will never take the place of my boy but I feel better having a pet. Does anyone else still grieve for their lost pet? I hate to say this, but I grieved more for him than for my father.

I know how you feel. Sometimes it has taken years for me to be able to think of a pet who had passed without crying. I lost one of my cats a year and a half ago, and I still miss him every day. I have other cats and a dog, but it still hurts my heart that he is gone. I still miss each and every one of them no matter how long it's been since I lost them.

Of course....I still grieve occasionally for those lost no matter how long it's been. And yes, more so than for family...
