he had a uti about a month and a half ago and i'd been watching him carefully for signs of a recurrence, but for some reason he died. he hadn't been acting sick, i saw him pee yesterday. sigh. he looked like he was sleeping, but in an odd spot (inside a cat carrier).
anyway, he was a funny cat - he was a feral kitten and was adopted by the girlfriend of an acquaintance of mine from a local shelter. when they broke up, she left her cats with him. he eventually had to move and couldn't keep them. i took wally because i felt bad for him - he was super shy and i knew he'd never make it in a shelter.
his name is wally because he hid in a hole in the wall for several weeks when we first got him. i could get him to come out after a few days, but i couldn't keep him out long enough to close off the hole.
he was always simultaneously starved for affection and too scared to get it. you had to sneak up on him to pet him. he'd follow you around and then run away if you made a move towards him.
also, he played fetch. he also liked to sleep in the bathroom sink and drink from the faucet. he hung out a lot in the bathroom, in general. recently he started turning the bathtub faucet on when we were on the toilet, i'm not sure what that was about!
he was actually dark grey & white, although it's hard to tell in that picture.
he was a very handsome, big boy, and super soft. he is now buried in the wally memorial daylily patch.
Wally (cute name), was a very pretty boy! So sorry for your loss; it's so hard when they go. When the time is right, Wally will direct another kitty who needs your love and the same good home he had.
I am so saddened to hear about the loss of Wally so suddendly. I wish you the best of everything. Sending my prayers over to you...
