When I first came here I had a 30 minute commute - not bad at all - had to take a contract position that require me to drive 1 hour 15 minutes and it cost a lot more, I racked up a ton of miles on my car and it took so much more time during the day that I had less time for exercise and spending with my kids. I would get home some nights just in time to put the kids to bed. I agree with some of the other comments, it is smart to have a shorter commute and that car time is not quality time. Spoiled? Hardly. And then again, why do you care?

The commute is part of the reason why my husband and I moved. When we lived in Boston, we lived 3 miles from our office which was downtown. It took us at least 45 minutes to get in whether we drove it or took the T. We are now probably about 3 miles from the office again and now it's about a 10 minute drive, no complaints here...
