I was wondering if anybody has had a negative experience at Davis Drive Elementary school? I know the school is rated well, but I was wondering if anyone can comment on the climate of the school, treatment of the children, teachers attitudes, etc.

My son attended Davis Drive Elem from K-2nd grade. Overall he had a good experience there. The one thing I didn't like was the homework. I felt it was too much busy work. We left DDE to go to a year round school for 3rd and 4th grade, but are going back for 5th grade in the fall.

I have also heard about too much homework at DDE.
One of our friends lives in Park Village and though they are pretty satisfied with the schools, she was not happy that her child's teacher would not help in challenging her bright kid i.e differentiation, but more in tune with the 'average' kid and the test scores.

Well, I have had both positive and neg at DDE. I believe like any school, it is truly the teacher. There are wonderful teachers and not so wonderful...but all and all I found that there is great interest in the childrens well being. Alot of the volunteering is done by the same parents, which can be a challenge, especially if the kids who are difficult parents never come to school to help out. Get involved with your childs classroom and it will make a difference. We are, due to a move, going to be in Green Hope Elem. and my 6th grader will move onto Davis Drive Middle.
