Another person desperate to move out of New Jersey to Raleigh. I am seriously considering to make the move by April/May 2011 , but will definitely do that only after I get a job.In the meantime I m planning to visit the area for 4 days in late July and will possibly roam around the RTP area and Cary and possibly see some residential areas in Cary. Can some one who are familiar with the Triangle area suggest what all I can possibly do in 4 days.
These are my interests in the Triangle area to take a look.
1) Nice residential neighbourhoods
2) Good malls
3) New home communities
My husband and I (and our young son) made the move from NJ in December 2009. Granted, my husband was relocated by his job, so we sort of had to come.
That being said, we love it here. We settled in a community in Cary, mostly new, and love our neighbors and community. Most of the people that live on my street are transplants as well (NY, Boston, Florida, NY state) and everyone says they moved here for a better life.
We are about 20 minutes from Crabtree Valley Mall, which is a nice mall in Raleigh. We are also about 15 minutes from the Cary Towne Center mall, which is more of a "run in a pick something up" kind of mall. But it does have a Macy's, Sears, JC Penney and a few other mall-type stores that are worth visiting. However, I have noticed that the shopping centers have a lot of services - Old Nacy, TJ Maxx, Bath and Body Works, etc, so you don't actually have to go to the mall for lots of things.
If you have any questions, feel free to send me a DM.
I moved to RTP area couple of months ago and really liked the life here. As most of the neighborhoods in Morrisville, Cary area are new, it is all expanding here, and is very safe!
Personally, I prefer two malls in Triangle area: Crabtree and Southpoint! Both are really good.
I live 5 min from the above mentioned Cary Town Center, and it is not bad as well, but smaller, with less boutiques.
Lots of good restaurants around, and it looks like it will grow in number.
PSMATT, I am planning to move to New Jersey area, as it is close to New York, Philadelphia from there.
What is the reason you are moving away ?!
You might want to check apartments on High House Road, Cary. Lots of new houses over there.
