First of all, this forum is a great resource for people thinking of coming to the area. Thanks to everyone for contributing.

My wife and I have been thinking about moving to the Raleigh area for 6 months to a year. We just had a baby and want to start fresh in a new place. We're both in our mid 20's and looking for more of a community feel than where we currently live in PA (we live in an older community).

We're probably coming down in a few weeks for a few days to see if we like the area before we get look further into the process of moving.

Does anyone have any suggestions for this trip on places we should drive around/explore?

Thanks,
Mike

Where in PA? Just curious - I have relatives in Central PA. Which areas down here are you interested in? Raleigh, smaller suburbs like Wake Forest, Holly Springs, Apex, Youngsville, each is a little different with something each it's own to offer.

we're in Red Lion, just south of York, PA.

We're looking for what most people are, good schools, friendly neighbors, and it wouldn't hurt to have about an acre of land. i'm a software engineer and currently commute over an hour into Baltimore, so i'd like to be closer to work as well.

Software engineer? I don't really think we have a lot of tech jobs here. NOT! You will fit right in! For the RTP area (which isn't the only place to get a tech job) the commutes range anywhere from 20 - 45 mins just depending on the area you choose to live in.

Anyhow, relatives are a little closer to State College. Glad you are exploring NC - great place to live!
