Just by reading through the posts (esp the one where the phD student doesn't want to move here), I was just curious where everyone has lived before. It seems like a lot of you are very cultured and lived in a lot of different cities.

Where do you live now? North Raleigh
Where have you lived before? Brooklyn (Bay Ridge) NY, Hazlet, NJ (Monmouth Co) Annville PA (for college), and Staten Island, NY
What was your favorite place to live? since I only have lived in NC for 3 weeks, I can't say it is my fav place yet. Hazlet NJ is my fav place because we were 15 mins from the beach, 45 mins from NYC and surrounded by tons of shopping and dining.
What was your least favorites place to live? Staten Island - couldn't stand the nasty attitude and rudeness of everyone living on that island. No respect whatsoever.

There is no where that I haven't liked to live. I am warming up to Raleigh, I had quite a culture shock when I moved here 9 months ago. I'm not a huge fan of Brier Creek (too expensive) but I now like NC alot. It has so much to offer! Beach, Mountains, Great food, Nice people! Currently we are looking to move further out of the city to a quieter more private place. Just like where we grew up

You are going to miss the beach!

I do.

Sure wilmington beaches are 2 hours away but its nothing like the 15 min trip I had to the Shore in New Jersey. In fact on Sunday a neighbor from NJ was saying he missed being able to run down the shore early on a sunday morning in NJ before the crowds and be home by noon and then enjoying the rest of the day only to head back to the beach in the evening for some surf fishing!

Oh well its cheaper to live down here.
