What a great weekend in the Triangle !

We went up to Raleigh-Durham to look at different neighborhoods/schools and came away with such a favorable impression of the area. Some of the highlights for us were
  • Neighborhoods - looked at ~15 subdivisions all over the Triangle and Bedford/Heritage were our favorites. The pool was rockin at Bedford for the 4th of July; not an empty deck chair anywhere ! We even looked in Hasentree ( beautiful homes ) even though it was out of our price range. Our daughter was thrilled with the deer along the golf course !
  • Dining at Elmos ( Carrboro ), the Pit, On the Border ( we don't have this chain in Florida ), Goodberry's
  • Fireworks at the NC State fairgrounds ( took us about an hour to get out after )
  • Marbles Museum
  • Private Schools - hard to judge academically from the outside, but our clear 'exterior' favorite was Ravenscroft. Also looked at Trinity, Duke School, Durham Academy & Chesterbrook in Cary.

A couple of things stood out to us; the amount of trees and foliage along the highways. I would highly recommend a GPS to anyone coming to the area for the 1st time.

Secondly and most importantly was how nice the people were to us. All of the kids we encountered seemed well-mannered and adults went out of their way to point us in the right direction or give us tips on where to go.

Our only regret was not getting to a Bulls game; maybe next time ?

We were there last weekend as well visiting from FL and loved it. People are so much nicer, weather, even though it was hot, it was not humid so it was nice being able to walk and not be drenched in sweat. Can't wait to go back!
