So TWC sliced right through my last nerve this morning and I'm looking at alternatives. Clear seems like a good choice and is available at my address.
I noticed that you are required to purchase the modem if you don't enter into a 2 yr contract, and the modem is $85. I've purchased modems before (DSL, many years ago) and know that they become obsolete after awhile.
I'd like some opinions on the rent vs. buy decision for the modem. I am a committment phobe and would rather not enter into a 2yr contract, but I'm not too keen on buying the modem, either.

Also, does anyone have any experience with the Home packages vs. the On-the-Go packages?
So that's about 16 months break-even. Check to see if there is a market on Craigslist and/or Ebay for used modems and maybe that is even less. My guess is buying is probably a wiser move overall.

Thanks!
Last month there was $50 "rebate" (applied directly to first bills) so that made buying the router a more palatable $35 rather than $85 - you should see if they are still doing that. It was "online only" but even if you talk to a rep, they should be able to apply it. At $35, the break even is much sooner at 7 months.
According to their map four streets in my subdivision don't receive CLEAR coverage. Of course I live on one of them...
Same with me. I had been considering dumping TWC-Earthlink and this seemed to be my best option. But upon checking out availability at my address...my house was not in the coverage area. About 4 houses up the street from me...there was coverage. And 6 houses up the other direction, there was also coverage.
We've had Clear for a few weeks now and its quite poor. I'm in 27615
Mostly, we get 2 bars and for a few minutes a day, we get 3 bars,
In addition, it is causing a problem with magicjack, so we cannot make/receive calls.
We have a month to month deal with them so we might quit their service if things don't improve, but we seem to have no other option (except TWC or Earthlink, both of whom are complete bozos and whose service is terrible).
In addition, we beleive that these companies both reduced our internet speed because we stopped having TWC cable TV and phone service.
Fwiw, I think Clear is looking to bring to market a router that has a port for an external antenna, which would boost your service. You might want to all and see if that could happen anytime soon.
