Kinda typical display by Rev. Barber, who succeeded in getting himself arrested -- and more importantly, media exposure.

Someone needs to bring the Rev up to speed on what exactly a "trespass warning" means:

"You are not a king," he said of school board chairman Ron Margiotta. "You cannot sit in judgment and decide who you like and who you dislike and have those you dislike banned from your meetings."

Actually, he can. As a former bar owner, I can vouch for the effectiveness of a trespass warning. Apparently, Rev. Barber didn't quite grasp the concept of "you will be arrested if you set foot back on this property again".

I normally don't like to beat a dead horse, but just once I'd love to hear Rev. Barber and the NAACP offer to be part of the solution, instead of part of the problem. Their time would be far better spent in the black community (instead of on TV), working with kids, churches, parents, leaders, etc. While I never agreed with the old board's ridiculous "economic diversity" policy, it didn't stop me from volunteering at my kids schools, or helping out when a teacher asked.

More orchestrated grandstanding to gain national media attention. Right outta the Reverend Al's playbook. Maybe Mister Barber wants his own national radio program.

I bet Mr. Tedesco is jealous he didn't get as much tv time. I hear he even wore a suit that fits today.

Looks like they have started arresting people at the school board meeting:

According to WRAL:

"5 p.m. -- Police carried protesters from the Wake County Board of Education meeting Tuesday as others sang "We Shall Overcome" and chanted "Segregation Never."

It appeared for a few moments that board member Keith Sutton was going to be arrested when he was in the midst of the protesters at the speaker's podium. Raleigh police had Sutton's hands behind him and looked as if he would be handcuffed in the confusion. Shortly after, however, he was led from a side door after officers realized he was a board member, not a protester.

A protest went on for several minutes before Chair Ron Margiotta ordered Raleigh police to begin arresting people who had disrupted the board's public comment session about 45 minutes after it began."

Interesting that the police appeared to be considering handcuffing Board member Keith Sutton, who is the only African American on the board. That little mix-up would look pretty darn bad IMHO.

Sad they are not aware of who the board member are when they are in the same room! Hey, maybe if we are lucky they'll put cuffs on Tedesco and Margiotti and take 'em to the border, Garner and Cary that is (No offense to residents of these towns) Cos we sure don't want them in Raleigh, they've done enough to bring down the area

I read in the N&O (online)today that the Republican party asked for folks to attend the board mtg for a show of force. This is out of the Tea Party's handbook, what's the difference? Can't they keep their politics out of our childrens education?

I said it in the other thread and I will say it again. This is what happens when you go back in policy without understanding the dynamics that brought the policy about. When you go back in policy you can also go back in reaction. So welcome to the civil rights era 2010 Raleigh USA style. If you don't understand that past you are either to young or forgetful. As has often been said " Be careful what you have asked for you may get it". Had those who won the election done so without so much gloating and arrogance they might have avoided awakening sleeping dogs.
