My wife and I are in our mid and late 50's, just retired, educated, Jewish, and liberal and are relocating to the Durham/Chapel Hill area. We are looking for a home at or below $600,000 (preferably below). Our realtor showed us some homes in the Croasdaile and Duke Forest areas of Durham. How do they compare?

VERY different IMO. Croasdaile is a country club neighborhood which seems to attract more folks from the hospital while Duke Forest is a mid-century neighborhood that seems to attract more folks from the university. Both are certainly nice, safe and in convenient locations, but I'd personally give the nod to Duke Forest for having more unique homes and not being a golf community. I'm also a fan of mid-century modern architecture, and there are a few gems scattered about Duke Forest.
