IT's my husband's bday and his favorite is pecan pie....Just wondering a good place to get either a slice of pecan pie or whole pie this time of year? Either in Durham or Chapel Hill...

Any suggestions for a grad students budget ( besides freezer section at the store? )

I'd make it myself in a store bought pie crust. It's REALLY easy! It only takes 5-10 minutes to assemble and about an hour to cook.

You could try Mama Dip's in Chapel Hill. They have take out, not sure the price.

Ditto to what lamishra said. I think that's the same recipe I use...cheap, easy, and yummy.

I second making one. They're easy, delicious, and you'll never want a store bought one again!!

Please try Scratch bakery in Durham--not sure if they have it, but if they do, it's guaranteed to be fantastic. Maybe the owner will do special orders?

The pecan people at the Carrboro Farmers Market do really tasty stuff. Otherwise, give making one a try!
