It was the best storm so far in my time here in Raleigh. We lost power for a few hours but that just inspired an impromptu indoor camp out and because my wife likes keeping the upstairs cool as a walk-in fridge it was comfortable right up until the power kicked back on.
The electrical aspect, while noteworthy, wasn't nearly as concerning as what can best be described as shrieking wind gusts.
It is a riot that the OP asked this question. I have been wondering all day if others feel like a zombie, as I do today. Between my fussing toddler and panting/shaking dog, it was a looooong 2 hours! For those of you who didn't hear anything...you are my heros !
I take it those of you with scared doggies are going to look into "Thundershirt" for them now?
It kept me up for over an hour. I have tall trees in back and worried that one of them was going to come crashing down on top of me. My cat hid under the bed and for awhile I thought of trying to get under there with her. My dog (may she rest in peace) was never frightened by storms; she found them interesting.
Definitely tired today. I don't mind storms but that one was intense and disrupted my sleep and I had to be in the office today.
I went and sat in my closet! My cat followed right behind me too. I didn't want to be anywhere near the windows! Looks like we're in for another round of storms tonight -- I just hope they come and go before bedtime.

I was struggling all day. Two humans and an enormous scared dog do not fit well in a full size bed.
