I want some trees removed in my backyard. I'm in the process of getting some estimates, but has anyone had bad or good experiences? Any recommendations?

I've used CS Tree Services - Pruning, Cutting, Removal, Stump Grinding (http://www.cstreeservices.com/services/index.html - broken link) twice now to remove a few dead trees and trim up existing ones. I think they do a good job at a reasonable price.

We liked J&D Tree Pros.

They have a minimum charge, as most do, so it is hard to give a "per tree" price. Just get an estimate.

Arbormax- I had two trees removed in 2008 Poplar and Oak both above 80 feet. Cost was under $2000. Lowest i have found around. That included haul away and stump grinding.

I'd recommend Farmer Brown's Outdoor Services in Raleigh. I had them remove 18 trees, 80 foot pines, from my yard. They came out and did everything in one day, chopped the trees into mulch, left some mulch for me for landscaping at my request, and knocked out the stumps and swept the yard. Aside from the break in the grass where the stumps were, you couldn't tell I had trees in the yard. My elderly neighbor asked them for a price to remove a huge dead tree that was in danger of falling on her shed. They took it down and removed everything from her yard without charging her since they were already there. I moved from that house and since have used them a second time to remove a large dying branch about 50 feet up at my new house. Excellent service each time.

We had a good experience with Bartlett Tree Experts. Very professional. They took care of some extra stuff that wasn't on the work order just to make the yard look good.

I just had 5 large pine trees (80-90ft tall) removed from my yard, as well as an overgrown row of wax myrtles for $1950 from Young's Tree Tech. The stump grinding of the trees is included in his prices. Nobody can beat this guy's prices, so save time and call him. Derwin and his crew are pro's and very efficient. In and out on my job in 3.5 hours with not a speck left behind.
